Fulcrum – finding balance
A women’s theatre performance

A colourful and exuberant end of term showcase depicting the landscape of our personal stories alongside an exploration of some of the wider complex social issues that are living within our communities and cultural conditioning.

What is our inner ‘fulcrum’? How do we find the balance between dark and light? What are the turning points and triumphs? Can humour be found in the darkness? What are the treasures we bring back with us from the ‘underworld?’ How do we celebrate and find solidarity together?

Over the nine week term each of the 11 women has created her own theatrical piece which is woven together with choreographed movement, costume, light, sound and some kind of magic!

Social Theatre Art is a tool that is increasingly being used to empower people throughout the world. Whilst not necessarily disadvantaged in Byron Bay, we still have issues, personal trauma and extraordinary stories as a rich source of raw material. The playful power of theatre can be incredibly far reaching and our personal stories are always a reflection of the community we live in.
